That white stuff is back

Published by Dysantic under Daily Shots

It started this afternoon, and it shows no sign of letting up for the next day or so.

The snow… has returned… to Canada.

where-is-your-poppy

Where is your poppy?

Published by Dysantic under Daily Shots

Do you have your poppy yet? If not, then please speak with one of the fine fellows in uniform that you may have seen around the city as of late. While you’re at it, why not thank them for their sacrifices and the horrors they endured which provided the freedom you currently enjoy, and that some in this world take for granted? A donation goes a very long way.

Lest we forget.

counting-some-pieces-of-metal

Counting some pieces of metal

Published by Dysantic under Daily Shots

This past weekend, I finally got around to counting the change I had accumulated over the last few years, and rolling it up to take to the bank. Turns out, I collected a lot! $448.50 to be exact!

During the rolling process, which took about three hours, I idled my brain as I watched “How High” (which was idiotic) and “Employee Of The Month” (which was just as silly, but a bit more entertaining). About 20 minutes into “Open Season“, I realised I was done. A bunch of people had suggested taking all the change and using one of those sorting machines at Dominion (pardon me… it’s called “Metro” now), but I’m not willing to give up 10% of the total just for being lazy. To hell with that! This is MY collection of change!

Anyway, I carried my bundle of change to the office, and lugged it over to the bank after work. Can you believe that all that change weighed just over 25lbs!? It’s amazing how this much metal can be worth that much.  :-)

I saw a zebra

Published by Dysantic under Daily Shots

While at Dooney’s for brunch today with Sparky and Seth, I saw what I thought was the reflection of a zebra in a window across the street. Both fellows thought I was making shit up, or recovering from a rough night of drinking, but as we left the restaurant, we saw a llama! Seems that a travel store, known as Intrepid Travel, recently opened up in the Annex, and were celebrating with a zebra, llama, baby kangaroo, and a parrot. They also have a draw for an eight day trip for two to Peru’s Inca Trail. We’ll see if I win!

barrels-and-pandas

Barrels and pandas

Published by Dysantic under Daily Shots

Near work, they’ve blocked off one of the roads with a wall of barrels. Some of them have letters on them and initially appear to be spelling out a sentence or phrase, but it makes no sense. It’s not done at this point, and there are a lot of barrels on the other side waiting to be used, so I’ll check it out tomorrow. Also, on the ride home, the dude sitting ahead of us wore a hat with a bit of wisdom… just wonder what the context is.

Sights on a Friday night

Published by Dysantic under Daily Shots

Last night, I met up with Seth and headed to his brother’s place for a BBQ and some brews. Along the way, I saw an intersting shirt, and then happened across my name carved into the sidewalk! I swear, it wasn’t me!

Riding on the TTC

Published by Dysantic under Daily Shots

Whenever Molly and I go for a journey on the TTC, we almost always bring along a distraction. With my cell being an iPhone, I’ve always got something to do, be it surfing the ‘net, or even updating my blog (for example, right now). It’s rare for Molly to be without her DS, as she continues to assist Mario in his most recent quest to save the Princess. I don’t know what she’ll play next once she finishes the game… if she ever does (she has been at it for quite some time!). :-D

steak-or-fish-for-lunch

Steak or fish for lunch

Published by Dysantic under Daily Shots

Yesterday, I had an exact pound (454g) of flank steak, and couldn’t decide if I would have steak again today, or mix it up a bit and have some fish. As you can see, the steaks looked pretty yummy, and they were fairly thick, but in the end, I opted for fish. Didn’t feel like marinating my own slab of salmon, so I went the lazy route and got some frozen High Liner. Maybe next time.

kick-ass-computer-setups

Kick ass computer setups

Published by Dysantic under Daily Shots

For the last six months, I’ve had a pretty kick ass setup at work. I use a Macbook as my primary work machine, with a 20″ widescreen LCD as my main monitor, and I have a PC to the side with it’s own 17″ LCD. Pretty nifty.

Back in May, I got my own personal Macbook, and started using that as my primary home machine. The Mac Mini I was using previously has since become a jukebox, which left my 20″ widescreen LCD without a task; I used my Macbook all over the place, and my desk was a mess, so I didn’t hook it up all that often. Then a few weeks ago, Simon turned his 24″ widescreen LCD at work 90 degrees, which made it really awesome for viewing long pages, and I thought “What a great idea!”, and made a note to try that out at home. This weekend, I finally got around to it. So far, it’s taking a bit to get used to, but reading Slashdot, BBC News, and even my site, is a hell of a lot easier. If you have a spare widescreen LCD kicking around, I highly recommend it. ;-)

Fun at the CNE

Published by Dysantic under Daily Shots

Today Molly and I went down to watch the air show and spent the rest of the afternoon at the CNE. My Dad was working at the air show again this year and scored us some free tickets. The air show was awesome, and Dad got us into the “invited guests” section which had an open bar. Sweet! Four Steam Whistles later, we met up with the rest of the crew, and wandered around the CNE. I had a great time, even if I was out of my mind, and as usual, the CNE had some great sights to be seen.
