This reminds me of that Sesame Street song “One of these things is not like the others”. Can’t believe that they did this for the Polish Microsoft site. Wow. Can you spot the difference?
Talk about a horrible Photoshop job. They couldn’t even be bothered to change the colour of the dude’s hand, or do a proper recreation of what the background would look like now that the new dude’s head is smaller. Oh, and let’s not forget the fact that this stinks of some petty racism. WTF? Who’s bright idea what this…!?
Thanks to Simon for sending this my way.

This is just awesome. I had no idea that gas stations in Lithuania are able to sell booze! Who had the crazy idea that, with drunk driving being a serious problem in our society, it would be okay for a gas station to also sell booze!? That makes no sense to me at all. Sure, it’s convenient, but you have to consider that there are going to be a bunch of people who would take advantage of that for the wrong reasons.
Well, it seems that the Lithuanian government has smartened up a bit, and decided to tackle the problem. As of this past January, they have banned gas stations from selling booze at night. Yes, you read that correctly… they can still sell booze during the day… just not at night. According to StatoilHydro, the company running the gas stations, this is eating into their profits, and they’re not happy with that:
OSLO (Reuters) – Norwegian oil and gas group StatoilHydro is trying to reverse a ban on the sale of alcohol at petrol stations in Lithuania, claiming it may lead to massive lay-offs, daily Dagens Naeringsliv said on Wednesday.
The ban on selling alcohol at night came into effect on January 1, after which the number of accidents linked to alcohol have dropped by 45 percent in January-May compared with the same period last year, the paper said, quoting police data.
Wow. I love that statistic though: a 45% drop in alcohol-related accidents. Those are some heartless bastards at StatoilHydro if they’re only concerned about their profit margin.
Thanks to Ted for letting me know about this insanity!

As I’m going to have to start looking for a contractor soon to help with the renovations of my Father’s house, I find that I am paying closer attention to the work they do, and in some cases I’m shocked that I’m seeing things I never really noticed before. You always hear the horror stories, and trust me, my family has lived through one of them, but seeing pictures like this, it makes me want to ask any potential contractor for some examples of their work before I consider hiring them.
Now, some of these images are just… dumb. It really makes you wonder how someone who plays with the structure of a building actually got a license to do so. However, in some cases, like the picture with the balcony over the train tracks, it’s entirely possible that they just left the tracks there as it would be more expensive to rip them up. I dunno. However, those balconies around the lamp post…? The guy who approved that should be beaten senseless.
I’ll leave the rest of the images to you for your own conclusions and amusement.
Thanks to Molly for forwarding this collection of horrific images my way.

I usually don’t pay attention to invite requests to Facebook groups, but this one is something I feel to the core of my being:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=52188527434
Down in Oklahoma, there’s this 14 year old gutless motherfucker and his brother who thought it would be fun to beat his cat senseless and film the entire ordeal and post it onto YouTube. He knew what he was doing. He had his face hidden, and even claimed to the camera that people were referring to him as the “animal abuser”, and proceeded to walk into a washroom where his cats were waiting. I believe that the cat named Dusty was the only one abused, and he looks almost like my cat Coconut. I watched about 20 seconds of the video to see if this was actually a case of animal abuse, or people harping about nothing, and I was completely disgusted and had to stop it. How someone could do this, I have no idea, but I haven’t felt anger like this in a while.
This site was created that provides a lot of info about who this kid is, how to voice your outrage, what the media has broadcast about the incident, and what steps the law enforcement is taking down there:
Never before have I felt the urge to do someone bodily harm. There is NO EXCUSE for something like this. I seriously hope that this kid’s life is forever screwed up for abusing that cat. He should never be forgiven.
On a happier note, both cats have been rescued from that household, and will hopefully find better homes in the near future.
Kenny Glenn… you disgust me.

I believe that animal rights groups generally do a good thing and bring awareness to animal cruelty, yet when they request something as dumb as this, it makes you wonder what they’re using all their donated money for:
Pop group Pet Shop Boys have revealed they have turned down a request by animal rights group Peta to rename themselves the Rescue Shelter Boys.
“Peta Europe has written to Pet Shop Boys with a request they are unable to agree to,” reads a post on the band’s official website.
But the band admits the request “raises an issue worth thinking about”.
Peta’s letter requests the name change due to the cruelty which they allege takes place in the pet trade.
If the band were to agree to the name change, it continues, it would “encourage your millions of fans to consider giving a home to an abandoned or unwanted animal from an animal shelter”.
In her letter, Peta’s special projects manager Yvonne Taylor admits that her request “may at first seem bizarre”.
It goes on to list a series of criticisms against the way pet shops obtain, maintain and house their animals.
Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe were inspired to call themselves the Pet Shop Boys by friends who worked in a pet shop in west London.
Originally named West End, the electronic pop duo won a Brit award for their outstanding contribution to music earlier this year.
The group – whose hits include West End Girls, Heart and It’s A Sin – released Yes, their 10th studio album, last month.

If they’re going to ask the Pet Shop Boys to change their name, PETA might as well do the same, as their acronym is usually associated with the phrase “People Eat Tasty Animals”.
Still, this isn’t the most embarrassing thing to happen to PETA. Let’s not forget Pamela Anderson.
