One liners…

Hilarity

Some of these are old, but they’re still good:

Thoughts From a Wandering Mind

  • I planted some bird seed. A bird came up. Now I don’t know what to feed it.
  • I had amnesia once… or twice.
  • Protons have mass? I didn’t even know they were Catholic.
  • All I ask is a chance to prove that money can’t make me happy.
  • If the world were a logical place, men would be the ones who ride side saddle.
  • What is a “free” gift? Aren’t all gifts free?
  • Someone told me I was gullible and I believed them.
  • Teach a child to be polite and courteous and, when he grows up, he’ll never be able to merge his car onto the freeway.
  • Experience is the thing you have left when everything else is gone.
  • One nice thing about egotists: they don’t talk about other people.
  • My weight is perfect for my height… which varies.
  • I used to be indecisive. Now I’m not sure.
  • The high cost of living hasn’t affected its popularity.
  • How can there be self-help “groups”?
  • If swimming is so good for your figure, how do you explain whales?
  • Show me a man with both feet firmly on the ground, and I’ll show you a man who can’t get his pants off.
  • Is it just me or do buffalo wings really taste like chicken?

Nyuk nyuk nyuk.

Left hand versus right hand…

From the mind of Evan Roberts

Even though I live in a great building, and have few complaints, there are times when I have to wonder about the people who maintain the community of apartment buildings in which I reside. Don’t get me wrong, this is a great place to live, and the people are nice and all, but once in a while I question their actions. Frequent water shut offs, the recent change making our visitor parking a paid visitor parking, etc.

For the last few weeks, work has been done on the north side of my apartment building. They’re replacing old bricks, and then “shining” them. It’s inconvenient for me as that means I have to shut the window that the cat climber is next to, and keep the curtains drawn as I don’t want people looking into the apartment, which means the kitties are denied their awesome view. Yesterday, we got the following letter through the door, and it has been posted next to the elevators as well:

We are responding to the a report of excessively loud hammering, sanding, and drilling noises. The latest incident of said noise occurred on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, from 11:00am to 2:00pm. At the time of the report, we were unsuccessful in identifying the exact source of the noise. We are now contacting all of the residents in suites that are in close proximity to where the noise is being heard and asking for your help in reporting similar noises. If you hear noise similar to those described above, please call your Resident Manager at (phone number). At that time, please let them know which suite you are calling from, and request for a staff member to be sent to the area where you believe the noise is coming from.

With your help, we hope to hold those responsible for this inconsiderate behaviour accountable with substantiated proof. As you are aware the Residential Tenancies Act provides for the quiet enjoyment of the premises and is enforceable under said Act. We would like to remind everyone that these noises are infringing on every residents’ right to quiet enjoyment of their suite. It is important to realise that noise travels very easily throughout the building. We ask that everyone make an effort to minimize the noise emanating from their suite.

I couldn’t resist, and wrote on the notice next to the elevators on my floor:

I also happened to run into one of the dudes working on the brick replacement and told him about the notice. He found it as amusing as I did.

Ah well.    :-)

Before and after

Daily Shots

I’ve had this carpet on my face for almost a year, and felt it was time for a change. So, after work today, I got out the shaver, and took off the fur.

I feel naked.
